COMBO offers unique and progressive mountain bike lessons by some of the raddest riders and certified mountain bike instructors in town. Offering three skill levels; beginner Dirt School, intermediate Shred School, and the advanced Flight School, we want you to join us to hone your skills and take your mountain bike riding to the next level.
In this inclusive and high stoke environment, each lesson takes place at different locations in Central Ohio, and at a price point that won't break the bank. The best part about admission is that money goes right back into maintaining the trails you love (and are learning) to ride! The COMBO instructor roster is full of fun faces that will get you smiling on the trails no matter your skill level. We’re all so excited for you to be here!
Got a question about our mountain bike classes? You can reach out to our Dirt School team here.
This class focuses on the fundamentals skills of Mountain Biking. It includes gearing, body position, stopping, and covers a general introduction to trail riding.
Considered more of an intermediate class, our instructors build on your existing skills and teach cornering, front and rear wheel lifts, and level pedal lifts.
For the intermediate rider who wants to take their skills to new heights. This class introduces bunny hops and the essential techniques for jumping.

Keith Overton here, many know me as “KO”. I work as Program / Engineering Manager, and am an Ohio native currently residing in Galena. As an Ohio University Graduate, I am fortunate to sit on their Engineering & Technology Advisory Board. My passion is for outdoor individual type sports, so I also am the Volunteer Chair Lead for another local non-profit (Adaptive Sports Connection) that provides sports opportunities, equipment & training, for athletes with disabilities. As for my “Creds” I am a PSIA Ski instructor, ACA Kayak Instructor, with certifications in adaptive for both and am also a DSU Adaptive Mountain Bike Instructor. My most relevant & recent accomplishment is a PMBIA Level 1 instructor. As part of the Local Alum Creek Trail crew you can usually find me there (P1 mostly), so if you see me don’t hesitate to stop and say hi! Hope to see you on the trails!

Melany Lowe first had her mountain bike flames stoked back in 2018 when she attended Dirt School. She quickly fell in love with the sport and didn’t look back. Since then she has cemented herself as the Hardtail Queen, winning the FUNduro Race Series in 2021 and 2022. Melany also continues to give back to the MTB community by serving on the COMBO board, participating on the race commitee, and now as a Dirt School Instructor. Melany is a member of the Lady Gnar Shredders, a local all female race team, and she is extremely passionate about getting more women involved in Mountain Biking.

Hi! Shannon here. I’m the Broadcast Engineer for the Columbus Bluejackets and reside in Westerville. I lived in FL for most of my adult life, but love being in a place with all the seasons. I’m an outdoor lover and adventure junkie who is always busy. I’ve backpacked more than 1000 miles of the Appalachian Trail, enjoy archery, camping, travel, and have rode single track in at least 8 states. 😊
I have been riding for more than13 years but turned into a true shredder in 2019 after attending a ladies group ride in FL, which ignited my love for mountain biking. I was all in after that and got a custom bike from Trek and signed up for a Ladies AllRide clinic. I also attended a Roam fest in NC and even tried some racing. I participated in the Funduro race series for two years, winning my first race in 2021, then placing second in Sport for the 2022 season.
I started volunteering for COMBO more than 8 years ago after meeting a member on a ride and finding out how to get involved. It always feels good to give back and trail work gives back in a huge way! I’ve met some wonderful people and made lifelong friends here. You can find me on all the local trails, Alum Creek being my most visited. Horns hill is a great place to play as well, so hope to see you out there. Please stop and say hi and let’s shred some trails together.
As for my latest accomplishment of BICP Level 1 Instructor, I look forward to working with others to help people find their passion for biking by teaching the skills you need to truly enjoy the ride!
